Beauty Tab

Beauty Tab

Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.
— Le Petit Prince, Antoine de Saint Exupéry

To shine a much needed, long overdue spotlight on women successfully demonstrating their ability to catalyze change in various disciplines. We will inspire and empower the woman of tomorrow, and educate nations of today with the notion that our beauty isn’t something that needs to be taught or bought; it should be heard as much as seen.

To rewrite the narrative that beauty is one-sided: cultivated and enhanced from the outside, tolerated when it comes only from within.

Our beauty has a pulse. Our beauty can think. Our beauty creates ideas, and people with ideas. Our beauty already has a name; and we will be called by nothing less than that name.

Beauty Tab was created due to my own exhaustion. I was tired of clicking tabs on digital media outlets titled “Beauty,” and seeing only tips and how-to’s for “the perfect fall ‘dos,” and “liners that match your areolae”. Have no doubt–I will watch eyebrow tutorials until my eyes bleed of Too Faced Cosmetics, and there is nothing wrong with wanting to enhance what you already have. But (to me) that’s just one kind of beauty, one For Looks. Girls need to know there is beauty, still, in the creation and execution of an idea. There is beauty in living just as you are, not as you’re told. There is beauty in thinking differently, independently and being interesting. Only recently do I feel people are coming to terms with this realization. I want to do my part and be a catalyst for this, pushing it even further. I want girls–and those inquisitive boys–to come to Beauty Tab and find someone that is doing something in a field that interests them and realize whatever their background, whatever their shade, whatever their identification: they can do it too. I will tirelessly find and highlight people that invoke that, and tell their stories a hundred times over. Beauty doesn't have to be fleeting.

Here is my secret. It is very simple: one sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.
